| What is the National Influenza Vaccine Summit? |
|
| The National Influenza Vaccine Summit (NIVS) was
founded by the American Medical Association (AMA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Currently the NIVS is led by the Immunization Action
Coalition (IAC), the CDC, and the National Vaccine Program
Office (NVPO). The NIVS is dedicated to addressing and resolving influenza and influenza vaccine issues. |
|
| The NIVS now consists of over 400 partners representing more than 100 public and private organizations. Summit participants include a wide range of professionals from the healthcare industry, public health and private medical sectors, vaccine manufacturers and distributors, consumers, and others interested in stopping the transmission of vaccine-preventable diseases. |
|
| The Summit receives financial support from Becton Dickenson, CSL Biotherapies, GlaxoSmithKline, Health Industry Distributors Association, MedImmune, Inc., Merck & Co., Novartis Vaccines, sanofi pasteur,
and Walgreens. Donations from individuals wishing to support the activities of the Summit are also accepted. |

| European Influenza Summit (EIS) |
|
| The 1st European Influenza Summit was held on May 26, 2011 in Brussels, Belgium. This one-day meeting of leading influenza organizations and institutes provided an informal platform to discuss ways to improve protection of the European population against influenza. NIVS leadership provided consultation on the development of the European group. The NIVS and EIS continue to collaborate on the overall goal of reducing the burden of influenza on both sides of the Atlantic. |
